Columbia Extreme management has an important responsibility to provide all its employees with a safe and healthy work environment. In this spirit, Columbia Extreme has adopted a set of principles and guidelines that will govern its attitudes and actions in matters affecting the health and safety of its employees to ensure that the company meets or exceeds the requirements of Work Safe BC.

It is the responsibility of every supervisor to ensure all employees are trained in and follow all safe work procedures in the performance of their work.

It is the responsibility of every worker to follow all safe work procedures pertaining to his/her work.

Health and Safety Stewardship

We implement working and production methods at all business levels to ensure the preservation of our employees’ health and safety.
We make health and safety a priority in planning and upgrading our operations, and we strive to provide an environment free of all toxic substances or hazards.

Protection

We ensure all protective and preventive equipment and facilities required to protect the health and safety of our employees in the performance of their duties is present and when required used.


Training

We inform and train our employees and provide all necessary information on the health and safety risks associated with their tasks.


Programs

We encourage and support research to improve the health and safety of our employees.
We develop and implement programs with the input of our employees to monitor and foster improvements to occupational health and safety.
We encourage employees to develop a sense of mutual responsibility for their health and safety.


Self-Monitoring and Follow-up

We collect, maintain and analyze appropriate data to provide for the comprehensive monitoring and auditing of occupational health, industrial hygiene and safety issues.
We perform independent audits to ensure compliance with our principles and guidelines.
